The New York Islanders announced Tuesday that they have signed goaltender Josh Kotai to a two-year, entry-level contract.
Kotai, 23, was an undrafted free agent. He played the last three season’s for the NCAA’s Augustana University and was named a finalist for the Mike Richter Award for the top goalie in NCAA men’s hockey this year after posting a .938 save percentage and a 1.99 goals-against average.
The Islanders currently hold the Eastern Conference’s first wild-card spot, with a 40-26-5 record and 85 points.
