He is eccentric and has done some odd things in pursuit of his art, but he’s a man of his principles, and a short documentary called Werner Herzog Eats His Shoe emphasizes that quite clearly. He made a bet with fellow filmmaker/documentarian Errol Morris, said he’d eat his shoe if Morris won, and then Morris did, so he went through with the shoe-eating.
