At the end of The Agency Season 1, the ground shifts on several characters as their secrets catch up with them. After a whirlwind romance with Martian (Michael Fassbender), Samia (Jodie Turner-Smith) is arrested. She is suspected to have been imprisoned in a secret prison, which becomes a major driving factor for Martian's shocking decision to become a double agent. The Agency is based on a French drama series Le Bureau des Légendes, and Samia meets the ultimate fate, something Turner-Smith hopes her character avoids in the succeeding season of The Agency. The actress told The Hollywood Reporter that she had talked to the show's creative team, hoping to sway them into writing a different fate for the character. "Because I’ve seen the show, the French version, I keep on trying to stalk the Butterworths to be like, ‘So can we make certain changes so that I can get some more time with this one and some time with these guys?'" said the actress.
