Crimson Deserts’ massive open world would take hours to traverse on foot; as such, players are encouraged to use a variety of mounts. Kliff and the other characters each start with their own horse.

In this guide, we explain the basics of horse care, how to look after your horse, and how to heal your horse should it be damaged.

How To Tell If Your Horse Is Damaged

Horses in Crimson Desert are typically damaged in one of two ways. They either take damage during combat, or they suffer damage from the environment as a result of a crash or collision. Depending on the horse’s injury, there are two ways to check.

Firstly, the horse will appear physically wounded. Blood marks and scratches will appear on the horse’s body, although this can be hard to see if your horse has armor. The second method is when you attempt to sprint.

The horse will not run and instead maintain a walking speed. This is when you know your horse needs healing.

Using Stables

There are stables scattered throughout the game world, but the earliest one you’ll find is North of Hernand. Simply speak to the stablemaster and they will offer to return and heal your horse for free. This is likely what you’ll be required to do very early in the game.

Healing Force Palm

If you’ve progressed far enough into the story to unlock Healing Force Palm, this is the easiest and quickest way to heal your horse. Simply use the ability on your mount and it will heal it to full.

Consumables

Lastly, there are consumables you can horse. You can buy Horse Tonic from stables, or sometimes find it in the game world, and can also feed your horse items like hay. To feed your use, make sure you are mounted on it, select the food item in your inventory, and hold the Use button.

If it’s a valid food item, feed horse will appear on the dropdown menu.
