“I’m excited,” Joy Taylor said of LSU tight end Mason Taylor before his draft pick. “I’m excited for him, but I’m nervous.” Why? Because they’re family. And family shares all the excitement and anxiety. 

Yes, the Speak host, Joy, is the aunt of Mason Taylor. Mason was just selected by the New York Jets as the 42nd overall pick in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Joy is the sister of Mason’s dad, Jason Taylor, who is a Pro Football Hall of Famer.

“For 15 years, I watched this sport with a severe emotional attachment in my brother,” she said. But now that he’s retired since 2011, she’s getting another family member to vouch for her interest on. “It’s like a familiar anxiety,” the analyst said ahead of the draft. “When your family plays in something, when your family is part of something, it’s very different.” 

The draft anxiety may be over for now. But Joy Taylor will have several seasons ahead of her to watch her nephew with renewed passion.
