Jack Osborne (the very iconic Jimmy McKenna) was reunited with daughter Beth Keane (Rebecca Ryan) after an explosive turn of events in Hollyoaks.

It’s not the ideal re-connection for anyone, a van smash that has landed a family in hospital but, nevertheless, both Jack and Beth are keen to develop a relationship.

But there’s a massive – and tragic – problem in the way. Beth’s stepson Caleb (Lewis Walton) is facing never walking again – and it’s Charlie Dean (Charlie Behan) who is ultimately responsible after driving utterly recklessly and causing the crash.

Beth and husband Jonah (Matthew Wolfenden) have been left crushed by what has happened to Caleb and, having overheard Charlie conceding his responsibility for the accident, Beth understandably ripped into him, telling him that it’s his fault that Caleb has a life-changing spinal injury.

Given Jack’s very close proximity to both families, he is about to be caught in the middle, with Beth going to war with Osborne matriarch Nancy (Jessica Fox).

A feud will explode as blame flies. Nancy is trying to defend Charlie but Beth is not having it, reasoning that he has to pay for what he’s done.

Jack wants to maintain his relationship with both, but he can hardly get splinters on a fence in a situation like this.

Very soon, it becomes clear that they are both going to force him to make a choice.

But how can he possibly handle this dilemma?

Beth wants answers – and she wants them fast, both about Charlie’s role in the crash and her father’s loyalties.

A painful showdown occurs between daughter and dad – how will Jack respond to Beth’s torment. And where will it leave Nancy?

It’s just the second week of Rebecca’s role as Beth and talk about kicking off with a bang! Already, the actress – previously known for Coronation Street and Waterloo Road – is feeling settled in and excited for what’s to come.

She told Metro: ‘As we’ve all come in as a family unit – me, Matthew, Sam and Lewis – we’ve already created this close bond, I feel like I am almost protective over Sam and Lewis!

‘There’s been the crash and Caleb has this terrible injury. Beth is absolutely in love with Jonah and that’s Jonah’s son so in turn she loves Caleb just like her own and emotions are so high. We’ve a lovely little family bond which really helps me get into the emotions of the scene.

‘We’ve had a bit of fan reaction and it’s been really lovely, everyone seems really excited about the new family coming in which is really nice and I’ve already got some lovely messages.’

Given her fantastic performances and upcoming powerful scenes, one can only expect those messages to keep coming.
