One of HBO Max‘s biggest TV shows has had rumors of a spin-off happening for some time, but now those rumors have been shut down.

What hit HBO Max show won’t be getting a spin-off?

Hacks, HBO Max’s hit comedy starring Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder, is set to end following its fifth season. However, rumors of a spin-off series being developed began to surface recently.

Speaking to Deadline in a recent interview, HBO CEO Casey Bloys was asked about those rumors and pretty quickly shut them down. “I’m not sure about that, there are no spin-offs. Not for us,” said Bloys.

While rumors persisted for some time, Bloys’ comments left no wiggle room for any more to pop up. From the sounds of it, it seems like HBO is officially ready to say goodbye to the world of Hacks when the show airs its fifth and final season.

Hacks Season 5 will officially premiere on HBO Max on April 9, 2026, at 9 p.m. ET. The show will debut with two episodes, and then will air new episodes weekly, with two new episodes on April 30 and May 7, until the series finale on May 28.

Alongside Smart, Hacks features a star-studded cast that also features Hannah Einbinder, Paul W. Downs, Megan Stalter, Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Kaitlin Olson, Christopher McDonald, Mark Indelicato, Rose Abdoo, Lorenza Izzo, Dan Bucatinsky, Helen Hunt, Tony Goldwyn, Jane Adams, Lauren Weedman, Christopher McDonald, Poppy Liu, Johnny Sibilly, Paul Felder, Polly Draper, Luenell, and Aristotle Athari. Additional cast members for Season 4 include Julianne Nicholson, Michaela Watkins, Bresha Webb, Robby Hoffman, Eric Balfour, Danny Jolles, Gavin Matts, Grover Whitmore, III, Holmes, Jasmine Ashanti, Katy Sullivan, Matt Oberg, and Sandy Honig.

Hacks is created and executive produced by Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello, and Jen Statsky, who are also serving as showrunners. The series is executive produced by Michael Schur, David Miner and Morgan Sackett. It is a production by Universal Television.
