Netflix has neither renewed nor canceled Detective Hole Season 2. According to Nesbo, there are no plans for Season 2 at the moment; however, he hasn’t ruled out the possibility entirely.

Typically, the renewal of a specific series depends on multiple factors, including financial viability, ratings, viewership, completion rate, and audience reception. If the series manages to tick these necessary boxes, the chances of renewal increase.

As the series dropped recently on March 26, it’s too early to evaluate its performance. Additionally, it’s adapted from the fifth book of the Harry Hole series, named The Devil’s Star, which apparently has a sequel book, The Redeemer. So, if a Season 2 ever happens, this book could be taken into consideration for adaptation.

In a conversation with Mirror publishers Reach Plc, creator Nesbo revealed whether he looks forward to doing another installment. He said, “No plans yet [for a season two]. Right now, we’re just concentrating on getting this TV series out to the audience, and we’ve been working on this for three years now.”

As they have been working on Season 1 for quite some time, Jo Nesbo revealed that they need a break and currently don’t intend to begin work on another season. “So, just the thought of starting all over again right now is a bit premature, and we’re so exhausted right now that we want a vacation,” he explained.

But the show’s star, Tobias Santelmann, who plays the titular character, quipped, “I’m ready. You might be exhausted.” To which the creator jokingly responded, “You’re ready? Then I’m ready too for season two.”

While they may not have the next installment on the cards now, the duo did not shy away from the possibility of it.
