The Harry Potter TV show cast continues to grow, with Warner Bros. Discovery announcing they have found the actors to play the Malfoy family, Molly Weasley, and more.
Who are the new additions to the Harry Potter HBO show cast?
According to WB, Lox Pratt and Johnny Flynn are joining the cast of the upcoming series as Draco Malfoy and Lucius Malfoy, respectively. Pratt is a relative newcomer, while Flynn has appeared in projects like Emma, One Life, and Lovesick. Alongside the pair, Katherine Parkinson (The IT Crowd) will play Molly Weasley, Leo Earley will play Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni will play Parvati Patil, and Sienna Moosah will play Lavender Brown.
The Dursley family has also been partially cast, with Bel Powley (The Diary of a Teenage Girl) and Daniel Rigby (Snow White) playing Petunia Dursley and Vernon Dursley, respectively. Finally, Bertie Carvel (The Crown) will play the role of the Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge.
The Harry Potter series is described as a “decade-long” project, with each season expected to adapt one book in Rowling’s acclaimed book series. The series will be led by Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout as Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley.
Alongside Parkinson, Pratt, Flynn, Earley, Powley, and Carvel, the series will also star John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch.
It’s unclear as of now who else will be in the cast, although rumors have circulated about other potential castings, including the likes of Voldemort. More casting information and a specific release date are expected to be announced in the future.
The HBO adaptation is being written by Emmy-winning producer Francesca Gardiner (Killing Eve, Succession). The series is executive produced by Gardiner, Mark Mylod, Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts, and long-time Harry Potter franchise producer David Heyman. Mylod, who has worked with HBO on Game of Thrones and The Last of Us, will also helm multiple episodes. It is a production of HBO in association with Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros. Television.
