The book series that kicked off the cultural phenomenon began in 1997 with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and concluded a decade later in 2007. It spawned a media empire that has extended to an eight-movie franchise, a theme park, and countless pieces of merchandise. The final movie in the franchise, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, was released in 2011. Now, the series is being rebooted with an upcoming Harry Potter TV show for HBO.
