Former world champion turned promoter Oscar De La Hoya has reignited his long-standing feud with UFC commentator Joe Rogan, escalating a war of words that has been simmering for years. While they’ve previously exchanged jabs online, tensions flared again earlier this year when Rogan questioned why De La Hoya was discussing Terence Crawford, who isn’t even signed to his Golden Boy Promotions.

The controversy began when De La Hoya spoke about a potential fight between Vergil Ortiz Jr. and Crawford after Ortiz dismantled Israil Madrimov, a fighter ‘Bud’ had struggled to defeat. Rogan’s comments didn’t sit well with De La Hoya, who fired back during his ‘Clapback Thursday’ series in March, accusing Rogan of refusing to invite him onto The Joe Rogan Experience because of his ties to UFC president Dana White.

“You refuse to put me on your podcast when the majority of your content is MMA or boxing-centered. I mean, I get that daddy Dana will not let you have me on the podcast,” De La Hoya said after getting snubbed by Rogan. It’s worth noting that De La Hoya and White have a long, bitter history, having publicly trashed each other numerous times over the years.

Despite the animosity, De La Hoya extended an olive branch, suggesting a podcast episode featuring himself, Rogan, and White—a “two-on-one” showdown he promised would be Rogan’s “highest-rated show.” Earlier this month, there even seemed to be signs of a truce when De La Hoya shared private Instagram DMs showing Rogan apologizing for any offense and expressing admiration for De La Hoya’s career, along with a willingness to finally have him on the podcast.

However, it seems the peace may be short-lived. De La Hoya has issued a new warning on social media, signaling that he’s ready to stir the pot once again: “Clap Back Thursday is back!!!!! May 1 and I’m coming in hot!!!!!” De La Hoya wrote on X.
