Rommie Analytics

It was all hands on deck in the December 8 episode of General Hospital as Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) escaped custody — and Jack (Chris McKenna) and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) joined forces to help track him down. Meanwhile, Lulu (Alexa Havins) feared for Charlotte’s (Bluesy Burke) safety, Carly (Laura Wright) covered her tracks with Josslyn (Eden McCoy), Marco (Adrian Anchondo) kept Lucas (Van Hansis) in the dark, and more! Here’s how it all shook out.

On the Loose

In his WSB office, Jack barked orders into the phone about recovering their prisoner and keeping an eye on his daughter. When Josslyn asked what was going on, he revealed that Valentin Cassadine had escaped during a prison transfer. She offered her help, but Jack said he had to go to the PCPD to coordinate the manhunt. Joss reminded him that Valentin had tried to kill him before, which also put her mother in danger. Jack assured her that he was Valentin’s priority target, but offered to assign someone to watch Carly. Josslyn insisted on doing it herself and couldn’t believe he was still concerned about getting information from Valentin instead of Valentin trying to kill him.

Tea and Sympathy

A shirtless Chase strolled into the Quartermaine kitchen and took Brook Lynn’s phone away so he could give her a passionate kiss. She expressed her admiration that he’d cooked an entire Thanksgiving turkey dinner, then admitted she kind of liked the family tradition of pizza on the holiday. Chase joked that he would’ve liked to have known that before slaving away in the kitchen, but couldn’t resist the challenge of breaking the curse. Unfortunately, their romantic moment was interrupted by Nathan calling Chase into work to join in the hunt for Valentin.

Later, Brook Lynn returned to the kitchen and found Ned eating leftovers. She reminded him that Olivia didn’t want him eating pizza, and he playfully begged her to keep quiet about his late-night snack. He promised to eat more responsibly, and Brook Lynn was glad to hear it, given his recent heart attack. Ned confessed that during his health crisis, he had wished for one more moment to tell his family how he felt, and then told his daughter he loved her. He sat down for tea, but Brook Lynn told him he couldn’t have any because of his medications. She reported that Chase had to go to work because Valentin was on the loose, and recalled how she once pretended that Maxie’s daughter, Bailey Lou, was her own child by Valentin. She felt bad because that scheme had hurt her father, but Ned assured her it was all in the past. He added that she’d made him a grandfather, after all, and his grandson, Gio, helped save his life. Brook Lynn was happy that she and Gio were making actual progress in their relationship, and Ned promised everything would be fine.

Family Ties

After updating Nathan about Valentin’s escape, Dante asked him to go to Lulu’s to make sure they were okay because Cassadine would definitely be going for his daughter, Charlotte, at some point. He had to stay and coordinate things from the station, but worried about Lulu’s safety. Chase arrived, and Dante asked him to head up a search party while also asking Officer Matthews to bring in Alexis. When she arrived, Dante had barely started to ask about Valentin when Jack arrived to coordinate with the PCPD.

Alexis was surprised to hear about Valentin’s escape, and Jack wondered if the letters she and her cousin had exchanged contained coded messages. Alexis insisted their correspondence was innocuous and was mostly about Charlotte and other current events in town. Jack wanted a team staking out Alexis’s house, and Dante said they were already on it, which was news to her. Alexis insisted that she would never help Valentin escape prison, but Jack suggested that, as the trustee of the Cassadine estate, he might go to her for funds. Alexis shot that theory down as well and insisted they were wasting time and money, but promised to let the cops know if Valentin did contact her.

An Untimely Interruption

Lucas came home to Wyndemere, and Marco surprised him with a romantic evening after the doc had to work on Thanksgiving. Lucas was impressed, and Marco gave him some wine and a back rub until Pascal interrupted to ask if they needed anything. At first, Lucas insisted he was fine, but when Marco asked if he’d eaten, the doctor admitted he hadn’t had any of the Quartermaine turkey that was donated to the hospital. Pascal agreed to make some sandwiches, and Lucas politely requested some dressing and cranberry as well.

Later, as they ate, Lucas rambled on about work before mentioning Carly stopping by to “apologize without actually apologizing.” Marco felt bad for being the cause of friction between him and his sister, but Lucas assured him Marco wasn’t the problem; Carly was. When he added that she was judging Marco based on his father, Marco looked uncomfortable. They were interrupted by a knock at the door, and Pascal answered it to Chase and some officers, there to search Wyndemere for Valentin, since he used to live in the residence. Getting an approving nod from Pascal, Marco agreed to let them search. He took Lucas upstairs to bed and left Pascal to deal with the police. Upstairs, Lucas couldn’t tell if Pascal didn’t like him or was “just being European.” Marco assured him he was like that with everyone, but would handle the police. Lucas admitted that when the cops arrived, he assumed they were there for Sidwell, and Carly would be proven right. Marco asked if he was having second thoughts, but Lucas promised he wasn’t.

Later, Lucas woke up in bed and wondered where his boyfriend had gone. Marco was downstairs checking in with Pascal, who reported the cops found no trace of Valentin or his father’s activities. Marco thanked him for handling this and expressed how important it was that Lucas never find out what Sidwell is up to — or his own involvement in it — or he’d lose Lucas for good. Pascal looked noncommittal.

Protective Custody

Sitting on their front porch, Rocco complained to Charlotte about being so angry with his father he didn’t even want to speak to Dante, and wondered if she ever felt that way about her dad. Charlotte confessed she hadn’t, and wished she could speak to him now. She said that she was excited that her dad might be transferred to a prison in America so it would be easier to visit him, and Rocco was happy for her. Eavesdropping on their conversation left Lulu quite concerned, and she became further upset when Dante called to warn that Valentin had escaped and would likely be coming after his daughter.

Lulu yelled at her kids to get back in the house immediately and explained what she knew about Valentin’s escape. Charlotte was worried about whether her father was okay, but Lulu was more concerned about Charlotte sneaking off with him. Rocco told his mother she couldn’t make Charlotte choose between her parents, but Lulu insisted Valentin was a dangerous criminal. Charlotte argued that her father had always kept her safe, so Lulu reminded her that’s why he sent her to live with her in Port Charles. The young woman wondered if he’d changed his mind, and Lulu begged her to promise that she’d stay here with them. “Do you want me to tell you what you want to hear, or do you want me to be honest with you?” Charlotte asked. “Because I’d really prefer to be honest.” Lulu wanted no more lies, so Charlotte admitted that if her father showed up, she couldn’t promise she’d stay in town.

Hearing a knock at the door, Lulu panicked, but it was just Nathan, whom she was very grateful to see. The detective requested Charlotte’s phone, and she tried to decline, but Lulu insisted, so she reluctantly handed it over, noting her father wouldn’t call her phone anyway. She wanted some air, and when Lulu wouldn’t let her out, Nathan assured her there were cops everywhere, and she’d be fine on the porch. Lulu allowed it, and Rocco joined Charlotte outside. Lulu vented to Nathan about how Valentin had once again put her in an impossible situation, and she feared for her daughter’s life. Nathan promised Charlotte would be fine, and outside, Charlotte held up a hand signal to let her father know she loved him if he was watching.

Hiding Out

Carly was shocked to find Valentin in her home, and he reminded her that they were supposed to take down Jack Brennan together. She complained that his showing up like this wasn’t part of the plan and wondered how he had escaped. He explained that her suggestion to Jack that he have him transferred to the States worked, and he managed to jump out of the plane with the help of one of the guards who was on their side. She warned that he would be caught because everyone knows he would come straight to Port Charles, and Valentin agreed, but declared Carly’s home would be the last place anyone would look. She tossed him a first aid kit and told him to patch himself up and get out, but he insisted she had to hide him because they were a team. Carly argued she was okay with sneaking into Steinmauer to visit him, but drew the line at harboring an international fugitive.

Valentin was disappointed because he thought she was committed to bringing Jack down, and she insisted she was, but worried about Donna, who was thankfully with her father. Just then, Josslyn entered, and Valentin disappeared as Carly tried to act normal when her daughter asked to spend the night to give Trina and Kai some space. As they were discussing Jack, Joss sat down on the couch and found the first aid kit. Carly pretended to be relieved she found it and claimed she and Donna were playing doctor. Josslyn warned her mother that she’d seen a news alert that Valentin had escaped, and urged her to make sure all the alarms were set. Carly wondered why the Cassadine would come here, and Joss reminded her that she’s dating Jack, Valentin’s enemy. When Josslyn finally went upstairs, Carly went outside, where Valentin was making the same “I love you” hand gesture as Charlotte and looking up to the sky. When she gave him a key to the shed, he tried to protest, but she insisted before giving him the first aid kit and sending him on his way.
