Gary’s exit ‘confirmed’ in Coronation Street as arrest for Theo’s murder grows near

DS Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) has been told that the person who really killed Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) is now very close to being arrested in Coronation Street.

Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien), the person who murdered Theo, confessed her secret to boyfriend Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) a couple of days ago.

Bent copper Kit was never going to shop his partner to the police, and believed they could prove that Gary Windass (Mikey North) killed Theo instead.

As far as Kit’s concerned, putting Gary in prison is the best of both worlds. Sarah gets away with murder, and it also eradicates the anxiety he has about his girlfriend cheating on him with her ex.

Lisa has taken a step back from investigating Theo’s murder due to the fact her daughter Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) is in hospital. The youngster has suffered multiple strokes, which were caused by the pressure Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) put on her neck during sex.

In Weatherfield, as Lisa and Carla Connor-Swain (Alison King) made their way back home, they were interrupted by the arrival of DC McLaughlin.

The copper informed Lisa that they’ll soon be making an arrest for Theo’s murder. After Lisa glanced at file she was given, she looked at Gary wandering across the road.

It appears Gary won’t be going to prison for Sarah’s crime, though, as spoilers have confirmed that Sarah will decide to hand herself in.

Sure that Gary is about to be arrested, Kit tells Sarah and she panics about her wedding outfit that forensics took away.

Meanwhile, Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) hears from Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine) that Kit believes Gary is going to be arrested.

But it soon becomes clear that the evidence is all pointing to Sarah and, as the Platt family finish filming a birthday video message for Audrey (Sue Nicholls), the police totally ruin the Cobbles’ queen’s big moment by arresting Sarah under suspicion of murder.

Pondering over the dynamic Sarah has with Kit, and the difference betweenthis relationship and the one Sarah had with Gary, star Tina O’Brien said: ‘If you had asked me six months ago, I would have said absolutely Kit is the right person for Sarah. But after everything she has been through with Gary, it’s complicated.

‘Even though they never crossed a line, there’s a level of emotional support and care still there. It’s hard to know if there is still something more, or if they are both just blind to it.’
