Joss Whedon's space Western, Firefly, was unique in the way it handled romance. While most shows lean into the drama and sexual tension of a couple first coming together, the show opened with Zoe and Wash as an established married couple. Even more unique for those circumstances, their love and devotion to each other were completely stable throughout the entire show.
