Fan-Favorite Apple TV Show Renewed But Ending With Next Season

For All Mankind is getting a sixth season from Apple TV, though that will be the final season of the show.

Created by Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert, and Ben Nedivi, For All Mankind is a sci-fi drama show that premiered on Apple TV in 2019. Starring Joel Kinnaman, the series imagines an alternate history showcasing what would have happened if the Soviet Union landed on the moon before the United States.

The fifth season of For All Mankind is set to premiere in just a couple of days; now, per Variety, we have an idea of what the ending of the show will look like.

What did the For All Mankind creators say about the Apple TV show ending?

“Getting to explore the For All Mankind universe over six seasons has been an amazing privilege, and we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to finish the story the way we’ve always hoped,” said Wolpert and Nedivi. “We’re incredibly proud of what this series has become, and grateful to Apple TV and Sony Pictures Television for helping us see it through to its final chapter.”

For All Mankind Season 5 is set in the 2010s, and Wolpert said that the final season will take place in the present day.

“I think from the beginning, the thing that we were focused on, and we didn’t know quite how many seasons it would take to get there, was that we wanted to reach the present day,” he explained. “We wanted to tell the arc of the story from the initial divergence of 1969, and then reach the present moment, and see just how different the world we’re in now could have been had we kept pushing for progress and kept pushing forward as a species.”

Nedivi added, “Honestly, what’s incredible is how close we’re still to the roadmap we laid out with Ron really early on. It’s one thing to get this far. It’s another thing to say that early roadmap is still our roadmap, which is not to say we haven’t diverged and gone away from certain things and lost people. But we’re still on that map, and it’s been an incredible journey, and I think the ending’s gonna be something else.” 

For All Mankind Season 5 premieres on Apple TV on March 29, 2026, while Season 6 is expected to arrive in 2027. There is also a spin-off show, Star City, premiering on May 29, 2026.
