For the second time this season, the Cowboys dragged fans at AT&T Stadium into an overtime rollercoaster. Only this time, the ride stopped without a winner. Dallas and Green Bay traded blows all night before stumbling into a 40–40 tie in what was arguably the most anticipated game of the season. Also, a game that marked the Cowboys’ first draw since way back in 1969. And Jerry Jones had a lot to say about it.
You just knew the first question to be thrown at Jerry’s face was going to be about Micah Parsons. And Jerry wasn’t too subtle about it. “They’ve got Micah, and we’ve got what we’ve got. And we tied,” he said. Well, fair enough. Jerry Jones wanted to prove to the world that his Dallas team could compete without the best edge rusher in the league. Pulling off a tie against that very player is the best way to do that.
“I knew that he is the great player that he is. I like the way we got ready to play him. We played him, we ran at him, and he made a difference. But that’s the way it goes. Whether we like it or not, I’ll take my side of it, and Green Bay can have their side,” Jerry added. Jerry Jones calling Micah a great player after everything that happened this offseason feels peculiar. But here we are.
And to be fair to Jerry, and of course, the team, they did a pretty decent job holding Micah down. Micah Parsons got a warmer reception than some expected during warmups, but his night didn’t exactly live up to the noise. By his standards, three tackles and three QB hits is pretty tame. His lone sack didn’t even come until overtime, when he chased down Dak Prescott at the 4-yard line to keep him out of the end zone.
He also had something to say about Dak Prescott, who had arguably one of his best performances in blue and white. “To not come out with a W for that one is unbelievable for him. I believe he was the better QB tonight,” he said.
He carved up Green Bay’s defense, completing nearly 78 percent of his throws for 319 yards, three touchdowns, and not a single mistake. Oh, and he added a rushing score just for good measure. That’s the 22nd time in his career he’s pulled off the passing-and-rushing TD combo. More than any QB in Cowboys history and trailing only a couple of guys league-wide since 2016.
And if, regardless of the game ending in a tie, Jerry Jones is a proud man. “There’s nobody in here obviously that I’m going to let in any way I can, put the loss or the tie on them. I’m proud of this bunch. They competed their tails off in here tonight, they competed out there at the end when they were tired. I’m proud of them,” he said.
And he should be. The Cowboys basically willed themselves through the fourth. Dak stitched together a clutch touchdown drive, Javonte Williams bullied his way for the ugly-but-necessary yards, and George Pickens kept bailing them out with those backbreaking chunk plays downfield. Two weeks ago, they ground out that win vs the Giants. The grid is undeniable, and Jerry Jones can’t help but be proud of his boys for the display.
Dak Prescott opened up about his feelings after the game as well.
Dak Prescott isn’t happy about the tie
As proud as Jerry is about clinching the tie, Dak Prescott isn’t too happy. “I just care about the end result and the win. And so, when you don’t get that, it’s tough for me. This is the first tie in 10 years I’ve been a part of; it’s kind of hard to wrap my head around it. I’d feel a hell of a lot worse if it was a loss. But I’m not satisfied,” he said.
You could argue that the Cowboys were a lot more likely to come out with a loss in most situations. But after putting in a performance like that? Anything less than a win feels like a letdown. The Cowboys were the underdogs heading into the matchup, but Dak Prescott only had eyes on the win.

He also commented on that Micah Parsons’ ‘sack’. “I found out they gave him half a sack on that last little…that’s for yall storyteller guys. I don’t care about the stats, the ups and downs, the ebbs and flows, just the end result,” he said.
Let’s talk about how that play went down. Parsons got credit for the game-saving hit in overtime, but the best part? Dak Prescott had no idea it was Micah who laid the wood while he was scrambling. But he doesn’t think that Micah deserves a sack being credited to him. “I don’t think he got me. I don’t think he sacked me. Got me once from behind right there in overtime,” Prescott added.
