The last few years have been a wild ride for Dexter fans, who have had to deal with so many cancellations and renewals that it’s almost getting tough to keep track of everything. When the original Dexter series was added to Netflix a few years ago, the franchise’s resurgence began, which prompted the IP owner, Paramount, to green-light new spin-offs over 10 years after the original series went off the air. Dexter: New Blood was maligned by critics and fans and canceled after only one show, but many found it easy to connect with the prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin, starring Patrick Gibson (007 First Light) as a young Dexter Morgan. The series was originally renewed for Season 2 before Paramount later went back months later and decided that it had been canceled.
