Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) is finally cutting off contact with her son Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard). He’s the scumbag that scumbags avoid and it also drastically increases his odds of being murdered…

Wedding bells are about to chime for Carla Connor (Alison King) and Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers), but somehow the Grim Reaper ended up on a guest list.

One of Weatherfield’s biggest villains will die, and the potential victims are murdering landlady Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn), bunny-boiling baddie Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown), violent abuser Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), twisted child predator Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon), and of course… the Worst Webster himself.

Since he first set foot on the Cobbles, Carl has caused so much chaos that frankly, it’s a miracle that nobody’s bumped off already.

Not only did do the dirty with his brother Kevin Webster’s (Michael Le Vell) wife Abi Webster (Sally Carman-Duttine), but he binned her off after wrecking their marriage. Not only that, but he was responsible for the hit-and-run that put Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) in a wheelchair.

Up Next

That’s at least three potential murderers right there. Did I miss anyone?

Oh yes. He caused the Corriedale crash that killed Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) and took advantage of Debbie Webster’s (Sue Devaney) dementia to gaslight her into taking the blame.

The potential murder victim count is now four.

When Debbie dropped the mother of all bombshells, Carl turned on the waterworks and went all ‘boo hoo, the woman I thought was my sister for thirty-nine years is actually my mum, oh woe is me.’

But that didn’t stop him from keeping schtum while Debbie went to prison, where her vascular dementia took a visible turn for the worse.

After being released from prison, Carl has played the doting son and insisted he’d love nothing more than to reconnect with his mum. Rubbish.

The only thing Carl wants to connect with is Debbie’s bank balance, so he can pay off massive debts caused by terrible life choices. He’s clearly using a vulnerable Debbie like a piggy bank… which does not go down well at all with her doting husband Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan).

That’s five could-be killers, by my count.

But Ronnie’s not the only one who’s rumbled Carl’s game. Kevin knows what his brother is like. So does Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott), who works at the Chariot Hotel Hotel and has seen how the no-good layabout takes advantage of Debbie. A few days ago, Ronnie and Kevin decided to work together to try and get rid of Carl, concluding it would be better if he disappeared for a very long time.

Six. If any more people develop a good reason for bumping off Carl Webster, they’ll have to start a WhatsApp group.

Somebody should add Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby). She already confronted Debbie over her suspicions that Carl caused the Corriedale crash that killed Billy. But Carl knows something nobody else does – that Theo left Billy to die in the fiery wreckage. He heard he sinister scaffolder confess while sobbing over Billy’s coffin. Being the smug git that he is, he was quick to rub this fact fact in Theo’s face… something which Theo didn’t exactly appreciate.

That’s seven.

Carl pointed Summer in Theo’s direction and even offered to prove his guilt. Summer already hates Theo’s guts for abusing Todd (Gareth Pierce) So she’d do anything to prove that the monster left her adoptive dad to die, which Carl is only to happy to prove… in return for ten grand’s worth of Billy’s life insurance money.

That’s right. The Worst Webster was using Summer’s love for her adoptive dad to extort money out of the poor girl.

Eight.

Needless to say, when Debbie found out what her darling boy had done, she hit the roof and screamed at him to leave the flat. This triggered another one of her episodes – to Ronnie’s horror. Enough was enough.

Confronting Carl in the Rovers, Ronnie told the sleazebag in no uncertain terms that he is making Debbie’s dementia worse and ordered him to leave Weatherfield for good – or he will make him.

If Carl does die at the wedding, surely this makes Ronnie suspect number one?

Just in case we needed any more reason to suspect the Worst Webster is not long for this world, upcoming scenes of Coronation Street will leave Carl more desperate and dangerous than ever when Debbie finally cuts him off for good.

When Ronnie is shocked to discover that Carl is trying to blackmail Debbie into signing over the hotel, he pleads with her not to give in to his demands. Wil she listen?

Meanwhile, Ryan is annoyed when Carl saunters into the hotel and helps himself to booze like he owns the place… because according to Carl, he does!

Once Debbie gets wind of this, It doesn’t take long for her to put her deadbeat son straight. Having been summoned by Debbie, Carl calls at the flat.  Debbie tells him he’s not having the hotel but she’ll give him some cash and she never wants to see him again. Will she really go through with this?

Yes! Yes she will at Carla and Lisa’s wedding, Debbie summons him to the hotel, hands him an envelope full of cash and makes it clear she never wants to see him again.

A cause for celebration? Maybe. But as we all know by now, Carl cut off from cash is when he’s at his most dangerous. Nowhe truly has nothing left to lose…. except his life.
