Conservative Talker Steve Deace Goes Off on Republican Leadership, Says GOP Lost Because They’re Not Listening to the People (VIDEO)

Conservative talk host Steve Deace of The Blaze recently went off on Republican leadership in a rant about the midterms. In his estimation, Republicans suffered their massive loss because leadership is not listening to the people.

Deace goes so far as to suggest that the left stole the right’s talking points and ran on many of them, while Republicans did nothing.

Agree or disagree with him, but Deace does make some interesting points here.

STEVE DEACE: Do not say you’re a populist and then tell your voters they’re wrong. Don’t tell your own voters there’s no affordability crisis. Don’t tell your own voters, well, you know, it doesn’t really matter what the price of gas is and we’ll be out of Iran in a few weeks.

Don’t do that. Because what we’re watching around the country now is we didn’t just lose wide swings of independents. When you look at the early vote, again, the early vote in Ohio was not much different than it was in 2022.

Republicans won the early vote in Kansas, which means if you’re looking at the margins there, Republicans voted for the Democrat. Some of our own voters have said to us, listen to us. We are the base. We are the we, the people. It’s not you, the brand. It’s we, the people.

And the folks over at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and the people that run this party and governors like Greg Abbott, formerly governor Greg Abbott, and many others need to understand that people have spoken resoundingly tonight.

The Democrats did not run on a bunch of left-wing tropes and talking points. They ran on ours. If we played a game, blind taste test, I could just grab you from my home state of Iowa. Just grab my Democrat candidate for governor’s ads. And I just said, hey, here’s the transcript of the ad.

I didn’t show you Rob Sand or let you listen to his voice. And I said, is this Trump 2024 or Rob Sand 2026? You wouldn’t know the difference. All right. We lost because we did not fulfill our own talking points and people felt betrayed. And we need to acknowledge that or we’re going to lose some more.
