CNN Shakeup: Leigh Waldman’s Future Changes at Network

Leigh Waldman‘s career has reached a new height as she has been promoted to CNN Correspondent. The journalist previously worked as a correspondent for CNN Newsource. She is all set to begin her new role next month.

Leigh Waldman promoted to CNN Correspondent

CNN announced on September 23, 2026, that Leigh Waldman has been promoted to CNN Correspondent. She will take up her new responsibility from October 12, 2026, and will be based in Los Angeles to report across CNN platforms. Waldman also shared the good news on her Instagram with a screenshot of the article on the CNN Press Room website. “Trading the NYC skyline for the Hollywood hills,” she wrote in the caption. The journalist continued, “So thrilled to start working alongside my incredible colleagues in Los Angeles. There’s no place like CNN, I’m honored beyond words to keep working with these amazing journalists.”

According to her LinkedIn profile, Waldman pursued a degree in journalism from Texas Tech University. She first served as a News Intern at Ramar Communications, Inc. for five months in 2015. Further, she joined CNN as an Atlanta Bureau Intern. This was followed by an Anchor/Producer/On-Air Talent role on Newscenter 25. Waldman also worked as an investigative reporter on KSAT 12 for two years and seven months. She went on to lead the station’s team coverage of the Robb Elementary School shooting in 2022. This work ended up earning her an Emmy Award, a regional Edward R. Murrow Award, and a Texas Broadcast News Award.

Waldman also served as weekend morning anchor for WOWT, the Omaha NBC affiliate. In May 2024, she became a correspondent for CNN Newsource. After joining CNN, the reporter has covered some major national issues. These included Fourth of July flooding in Central Texas, the impact of hurricanes along the Gulf Coast, shootings at schools, and the launch and comeback of astronauts from Boeing’s Starliner.
