Strictly Come Dancing has just kicked off, and Chris Robshaw thinks the show’s infamous curse could actually help him.

Chris, 39, is dancing with Nadiya Bychkova, 36, in the new series, which has already been controversial after a dramatic injury sparked a last-minute replacement.

While celebrities are usually hoping to avoid speculation on their personal life, the former Rugby player says it’s a sign of ‘something going right’.

The so-called ‘Strictly curse’ is where celebrities already in relationships, end up finding romance with fellow participants or their professional dance partner.

Despite the uncomfortable cheating rumours, we have seen love blossom over the years with couples like Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell or Rachel Riley and Pasha Kovalev.

Rest assured, Chris is not looking to leave his wife Camilla Kerslake — he just thinks it’s the ultimate compliment.

‘Surely if people think there’s something going on between us, we must be doing something right,’ he joked to The Sun.

‘Nadiya and I are a team, both totally focused on the dancing and giving it our all week by week.’

Chris may be hoping his steamy dances are believable, but rehearsals are firmly a family affair with his kids joining in on the fun.

The Former England Rugby Captain married opera singer Camilla, 37, in 2018 and they share two children.

The boys joined their dad in the BBC dance rehearsal space, with Nadiya lifting 13-month-old Hunter in her arms as Chris danced with Wilding, four.

Camilla was also there, practising the salsa and the Charleston in the training video shared on Instagram.

‘Thanks so much to @madiyabychkova for teaching the family a bit of the Charleston and salsa! Can’t wait for our next lesson!’ she wrote.

Chris added to The Sun: ‘Camilla and I are solid, she’s incredibly supportive, and we have a lot of trust in our marriage.’

Only time will tell if the Strictly curse hits the 2025 celebrities but even co-presenter Claudia Winkleman has given her views on the romance.

A few years ago, she told Digital Spy: ‘I understand, it’s very intense. I don’t believe in the curse, but I think lots of people have come in single and they might have met somebody or had a little romance.’

The 52-year-old continued, stating: ‘It’s intoxicating, Strictly, because you’re all part of this extraordinary juggernaut. So I don’t think people fall in love with people, they might just love the experience.’

Up Next

This year has already had enough emotional ups and downs to keep fans satisfied as frontrunner Dani Dyer has been forced to drop out.

Love Island star Amber Davies has stepped in to replace the daughter of national treasure Danny Dyer after she fractured her ankle.

Amber, who is a West End star, will dance with Nikita Kuzmin but some feel she has an unfair advantage as she has professional dance training.

The new couple have just started rehearsals for this Saturday’s show, where they’ll perform a Waltz for their first routine of the series.

Strictly Come Dancing returns this Saturday at 6.55pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
