Chainlink’s DeFi Total Value Secured (TVS) rose from $33.98 billion on August 7 to $40.02 billion, a gain of $6.04 billion in just one month, according to DeFiLlama.

Analyst Chris Barret noted that Chainlink has now facilitated $34 trillion in total transactions. The network also partnered with the US Commerce Department to bring inflation, GDP, and sales data on-chain.

On the institutional side, Chainlink partnered with Bottomline, which handles over $16 trillion in annual payments, to bring its CCIP and CRE tools to more than 600 banks for cross-border payments. BitGo is also migrating more than $15 billion in assets to Chainlink’s CCIP infrastructure.

Wyoming’s Stable Token Commission adopted Chainlink’s Proof of Reserve, adding another institutional use case to the network’s growing list.

Open Interest Reaches 11-Month High

Open interest rose to $784 million, the highest reading since October 2025, per CoinGlass data. LINK’s derivative volumes also increased 8%, reaching $1.04 billion.

The long/short ratio on Binance stands at 1.67 and 1.36 on OKX, meaning more short accounts than long accounts exist on both exchanges.

Futures CVD sits at $113.1 million in net selling, yet LINK’s price has continued rising, suggesting buyers are absorbing the pressure.

Whale Activity and ETF Flows

One large address sent 2.41 million LINK, worth around $26 million, to Coinbase over three weeks. A separate whale also moved 620,000 LINK, worth about $7.6 million, to Coinbase. These transfers could add selling pressure but have not yet confirmed a sell-off.

CHAINLINK WHALE SENDS ANOTHER $7.6M LINK TO COINBASE

The whale deposited another 620.42K $LINK (~$7.6M) to Coinbase.

Over the past three weeks, it has now sent 2.41M $LINK (~$26.04M) to Coinbase, which was previously accumulated from Binance.

LINK ETFs posted zero inflows in the week of August 31 to September 4, compared to $986 million for BTC ETFs and $218 million for ETH ETFs in the same period.

Trader Symba (@Nebulabsxyz) posted on X that LINK has moved through accumulation around $8–$10, manipulation below $7.5, and is now in an expansion phase. He identified $15 and $18 as his next upside targets.

$LINK is moving through the phases pretty cleanly here.

Accumulation around $8–$10, manipulation below $7.5, then expansion. Now price is breaking past the $10.6–$12 re-accumulation area.

I'm now looking for $15 and $18 as the next upside targets 🚀 pic.twitter.com/dCBZy5OuHp

Price Targets and Key Levels

On the weekly chart, LINK has formed a double-bottom pattern. A breakout above the $10.72 neckline points to a target of $15.83. LINK has also moved above the 200-week EMA at $12.85.

Analyst Axel on X forecasts LINK could reach $22, but only if it closes above $13.50 on the weekly chart.

The $12 level remains the key support. Losing it could pull price back to $11.50 or $10.70. LINK is still 74% below its all-time high of $52.88 from May 2021.
