From old-school reggaetón to perreo, Casa BACARDÍ turned a corner of Outside Lands into a celebration of the Caribbean and Afro-Latin diaspora.

Outside Lands may be synonymous with indie rock, pop, electronic music, and hip-hop headliners, but tucked toward the back of the Polo Field, Casa BACARDÍ delivered a dose of Latin energy. Returning to Golden Gate Park in 2026, the stage once again created a space where reggaetón, Latin dance music, and sounds of the Caribbean and Afro-Latin diaspora could take center stage.

For BACARDÍ, that cultural connection runs deeper than simply putting its name on a festival activation. Founded in Cuba in 1862 before establishing its home in Puerto Rico, the rum brand has long positioned itself around Caribbean culture, music, and celebration.

At Outside Lands, Casa BACARDÍ translated that identity into a physical space built for dancing, drinking, and community. The installation first arrived at the festival in 2024 as a dedicated home for Latin music and nightlife, inspired by BACARDÍ’s original sites in Puerto Rico.

Since debuting in 2024, the stage has hosted reggaetón, Latin, and dance music, with early lineups featuring Bay Area favorites including B-Side Brujas, Chulita Vinyl Club, Gasolina Reggaetón Party, and Nanosaur. By 2026, what might have once felt like a side attraction had become an essential part of the festival.

The collectives and DJs behind Casa BACARDÍ understood something that can get lost at massive festivals: smaller stages could also be the life of the party.

That philosophy showed up in the programming, which drew on the work of Latin music collectives like Gasolina Party. Founded in Los Angeles, this collective has grown from its roots at Downtown LA’s Belasco Theatre into one of the country’s largest reggaetón parties. The event series has pushed perreo from underground dance floors into the mainstream while staying connected to the communities that built the culture.

At Outside Lands, Rosa Perreo and Jay Ruiz brought that communal energy to Golden Gate Park, transforming Casa BACARDÍ into a dance floor centered on reggaetón, Latin club music, and Caribbean and Afro-Latin culture. Their sets made the space feel less like a traditional festival activation and more like a night out in San Francisco, echoing the community-driven energy that Bay Area collectives like CLB_INTRNCNL, Mostly Cloudy, and Velvet Cloud Radio have cultivated for the local Latine community.

That mattered at Outside Lands.

Outside Lands has spent 18 years positioning itself as a celebration of San Francisco’s broader cultural identity, and Casa BACARDí fit naturally into that mission.

The 2026 edition of Outside Lands brought together massive international acts with the food, art, and local culture that make the festival distinctly Bay Area once again. With Casa BACARDÍ, it also pushed it further by creating space for a part of the city’s nightlife culture that doesn’t always receive the same spotlight.

Reggaetón and perreo have always been physical genres, built around collective movement and the feeling of being surrounded by people who understand the rhythm. Casa BACARDÍ captured that seamlessly. A casual stop could easily turn into an hour-long dance session, with strangers becoming temporary dance partners. That’s what made the space so powerful: its size never dictated its impact.

For Latine festival-goers, there was something especially affirming about watching perreo occupy its own space in Golden Gate Park. For everyone else, this space offered an invitation to discover new sounds, delicious rum drinks, and Afro-Latin and Caribbean culture.

Ultimately, Casa BACARDÍ’s greatest achievement wasn’t simply bringing Latin music to Outside Lands. It was making Latin music feel central to the festival and not supplemental. Rosa Perreo, Jay Ruiz, and the collectives behind the programming transformed a relatively small corner of the Polo Field into one of the weekend’s most memorable dance floors.
