Get ready Browns fans, Shedeur Sanders is heading your way.
Cleveland finally selected the quarterback with the 144th overall pick in Round 5 of the 2025 NFL Draft on Friday, marking the end of his polarizing college career and the start of his professional journey.
Shedeur, son of NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, spent all four of his collegiate seasons coached by his father — the final two of which were with the Colorado Buffaloes.
The 23-year-old’s final NCAA season was especially impressive as he finished with 4,134 passing yards for 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions on a 74 per cent completion rate. Shedeur took home Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year honours for his efforts as a senior. He leaves the college ranks with the highest completion percentage in FBS history (71.8).
Shedeur and father Deion helped turn around a Buffaloes program that went 1-11 the year before they joined in 2023. Colorado picked up three more wins in their first season in Boulder, Colo., and then jumped up to 9-4 in 2024.
Now the younger Sanders will look to energize a Browns team that appears to believe in his ability to do the same for them.
Cleveland also selected QB Dillon Gabriel in the third round on Friday night.
More to come.
