Is this for real, or just ‘smoke and mirrors?’

After his brief honeymoon with UK voters is over, British Prime Minister Andy Burnham is looking for popular initiatives that can compensate for tax hikes, criminals’ early release from prison, and other Labour Party suicidal policies.

It’s in this context that ‘victims minister’ Alex Davies-Jones (yes, the British have that) has floated to the press a public inquiry into crimes committed by late convicted sex offender ‌Jeffrey Epstein in the UK.

Reuters reported:

“Nearly seven years after his death, the Epstein scandal has rocked the British establishment, leading to the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, King Charles’ brother, and of Peter Mandelson, the former British ambassador to the U.S.

Burnham, who became prime minister in July, will meet Epstein’s victims, Davies-Jones told BBC Newsnight, and a public inquiry could follow. ‘We are looking into this. We are ‌seeing what is possible’, the minister said.”

“So a public inquiry into Epstein in this country is a possibility, you said?”

“We are looking into this.”

“Davies-Jones said any public inquiry could also examine the alleged actions of the late Egyptian billionaire Mohamed al-Fayed, another public figure who has been accused of rape and sexual assault by hundreds of victims.”

“My fear is if you tack Mohamed Al-Fayed onto that… you end up doing neither set of alleged offences justice.”

But to make things even more complicated, now the PM is denying this news.

Downing Street has said Andy Burnham is not actively considering holding a public inquiry into the UK activities of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
