Big Brother 28 just crowned a surprising BB Block Buster winner before sending another houseguest out the door. Week 5’s live eviction delivered a lopsided vote that no one saw coming.

Big Brother Season 28 Week 5 eviction votes out its fifth housemate

Chuk Anyanwu became the fifth houseguest evicted from Big Brother Season 28 during Thursday’s live episode. Julie Chen Moonves hosted the Week 5 eviction night on CBS. Ultimately, the vote ended in a decisive 9-1 margin against Chuk.

Meanwhile, LaTrice “Lala” Verrett served as Head of Household for Week 5 of the competition. She nominated three housemates for eviction: Haley Thogmartin, Barrett Pfeiffer and Chuk Anyanwu. As a result, the nominations set the stage for a tense week inside the divided house.

Kamu Kirk then won the Power of Veto competition during the week. Both Haley and Chuk hoped Kamu would use the POV on one of them. However, Kamu chose to keep all three nominations the same heading into eviction night. His decision left all three nominees vulnerable going into Thursday’s live show.

Additionally, the BB Block Buster competition gave the three nominees one final chance at safety. Haley competed against Barrett and Chuk in the live challenge on Thursday night. She emerged victorious and secured her spot in the house for another week.

With Haley safe, Barrett and Chuk faced the remaining houseguests for the eviction vote. Nine houseguests voted to evict Chuk, including Melody, Angela, Kamu, Dee and Yash. Furthermore, Devens, Drew, Taylor and Mallory also cast their votes against him. Only Haley voted to evict Barrett instead.

Consequently, Chuk’s departure leaves the house dynamics shifting as the competition moves deeper into the season. Big Brother Season 28 previously debuted to the series’ best premiere audience in five years. The show continues to deliver strong ratings for CBS alongside its Unlocked spinoff.
