The third series of ITV’s Big Brother reboot got underway on Sunday night, and if you spend any time on TikTok, you might have clocked a couple of familiar faces.

Among this year’s 12 new housemates are social media personality Elsa Rae and Zelah Glasson, a personal trainer who has also become an influencer in both the fitness and LGBTQ+ spaces.

However, the most controversial booking of the year is undoubtedly Emily Hewertson, a right-wing commentator who in recent years has become a regular on GB News and TalkTV.

A vocal Conservative Party member, Emily has also been associated with the UK wing of the political group Turning Point, which was founded by the late right-wing political personality Charlie Kirk.

In her introductory VT, Emily spoke of attending a Christmas drinks event at Boris Johnson’s house, while unearthed pictures also show her posing with Reform leader Nigel Farage (last year, she explained during a podcast interview that she’d even considered joining the party, before deciding to stay with the Conservatives).

Naturally, Emily’s presence in the house has already ruffled feathers among some fans of the long-running reality show, though she may not be remaining under Big Brother’s watchful eye for much longer.

During Sunday’s launch show, three housemates were chosen by the public to be given Big Brother’s “evil eye”, putting them at risk of eviction just moments after entering the house, with Emily being one of them.

The identity of the housemate who has been evicted will be revealed during Monday night’s highlights show.

Also on the Big Brother line-up this year are young farmer Cameron Kinch (who has already spoken of joining fellow farmers at protests in London last year), Pizza Hut manager Gani Khan, PR-to-the-stars Caroline Monk and entrepreneur Tate Reynolds, who owns Scotland’s most successful “butlers in the buff” company.

Big Brother continues on Monday night at 9pm on ITV2.
