Bethany has Jodie sussed in Coronation Street and prepares to bring her down

Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) has vowed to bring Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown) down in Coronation Street, concluding there is something not quite right about her.

The Weatherfield resident has been suspicious of Jodie for a little while, but she explained to her mum Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) in tonight’s episode that she hasn’t managed to work out why she doesn’t like Jodie.

Bethany’s thoughts about the newcomer are bang on. Introduced at the start of the year, Jodie is Shona Platt’s (Julia Goulding) long lost sister and is busy trying to destroy her life.

Jodie wants to do this because of the resentment she feels towards Shona, who left the family home when she became a teen mum. So far, Jodie’s plan has included dripping poison in Lily Platt’s (Grace Ashcroft-Gardner) ear about her stepmum, and she’s also trying to encourage David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) to cheat on Shona with her.

As well as meddling in Shona’s life, Jodie has made it clear she also takes pleasure in making other people’s lives a misery.

After clashing with Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove), Jodie snuck into the Alahan household and cut Bernie’s face out of her wedding pictures. She then placed it inside a box which contains a variety of random items, with viewers believing they’ve been stolen from Jodie’s past victims.

It appears Jodie may be targeting Bethany next, as she conveniently showed up at the Bistro in tonight’s episode after Bethany received some bad news.

The character had dressed up and was waiting for her date Ethan to arrive. When he failed to show, Bethany grew curious when Jodie wandered in.

They ended up having a drink and were later joined by Sarah, who had spent the day worrying about Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce).

Sarah asked Jodie for advice on abusive relationships. Confused, Jodie suddenly remembered the lie she told earlier in the year, which saw her claim that she had an abusive partner.

As Jodie spun another lie, Bethany listened, and suffice to say she was struggling to be totally convinced by what she was saying.

When Jodie left, Bethany expressed her concerns to Sarah. She said that she’s been suspicious about Jodie for a while, but is struggling to put her finger on why she finds her a bit strange.

Bethany told her mum that she’ll get her answers eventually though – but does that put her in danger?

If Jodie realises Bethany is close to the truth about her, what will she do?
