Beloved Emmy-Winning Comedy Is Finally Back Next Month for Season 4

The critically acclaimed comedy series Ted Lasso is returning for its fourth season in August. Initially, the show was supposed to end after Season 3. However, Season 4 eventually received the green light.

Ted Lasso finally returns on Apple TV next month

Ted Lasso is coming back with Season 4 on Apple TV on August 5, 2026. The upcoming chapter will have 10 episodes in total. Ted Lasso originally started as a series of promotional sketches for NBC Sports’ coverage of the English Premier League. Jason Sudeikis portrayed the titular character in those promos and later reprised his role in the show. Developed by Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt, and Joe Kell, Ted Lasso debuted on Apple TV on August 14, 2020. It subsequently returned for Seasons 2 and 3 on July 23, 2021, and March 15, 2023, respectively.

For Apple TV, Ted Lasso is a flagship series. It has become massively popular, drawing a significant number of subscribers to the platform. It currently has a 90% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. In a review, Matthew Gilbert of The Boston Globe wrote in his review of Season 3, “I’ve come to love the show’s emphasis on dealing with your demons, lest they deal with you, something I wish for everyone. And I admire the show’s take on kindness and mentoring, on the way being there to help one another is its own reward.”

The series’ plot revolves around the endearing titular protagonist, an American football coach who starts managing an English soccer team. The cast of Season 4 includes Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca Welton, Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins, Juno Temple as Keeley Jones, Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent, and Brendan Hunt as Coach Willis Beard.

Sudeikis said in March 2023 that the third season was “the end of this story that we wanted to tell” (via Deadline). However, in March 2025, after months of reports and speculation, Apple TV officially announced the show’s fourth season.
