The BAFTA Television Awards have named comedian Greg Davies as the host for its 2026 event. Davies is best known as the host of Taskmaster. It makes him an apt fit for the role. Apart from Taskmaster, the comedian and actor is known for his roles in The Inbetweeners and The Cleaner.

He is taking over the duties from Alan Cumming, who hosted the award ceremony in 2025.

This year’s BAFTA TV Awards will take place on May 10, 2026, at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall. This marks BAFTA’s first event since the film awards, which became infamous for Tourette’s campaigner John Davidson’s racial slurs.

Speaking about taking on the coveted role, Davies said (via Deadline), “I see the whole event as an opportunity to wave a flag for this beloved medium and, with the exception of one commissioner, two execs and a co-star that I have personal beef with, I will do everything I can to ensure it’s a night of warm celebration for all.”

Emma Baehr, executive director of awards and content at BAFTA, said about Davies, “His sharp humour, warmth and energy will set the stage for an unforgettable night honouring the very best in British television.”

The nominations for all the categories of the awards will be unveiled on Tuesday at Midday local time. This year’s ceremony could see Netflix’s Adolescence dominate once again, as it did in the other awards. Other strong contenders include The Pitt and Pluribus.
