If you’re eager to know what happens in Casualty next week then I’m afraid I have some bad news for you.
Due to coverage of Wimbledon, Casualty will be taking a short break, meaning no new episode will air on Saturday July 4.
The good news, however, is that the hiatus is simply for one week and thus Casualty will return to screens on Saturday, July 11.
There has been no shortage of drama as of late in the BBC One medical drama, which is currently knocking it out of the park with its recent boxset, the high-octane Lethal Legacy saga.
Ever since the arrival of Jack Bard (Mark Womack), tensions have been running high for Flynn Byron (Olly Rix), who knows full well that the army colonel is abusing his soldiers – particularly young Rory Dickson (Gwïon Morris Jones).
Stevie Nash (Elinor Lawless), meanwhile, faced consequences after embarking on a secret affair with Matty Linlaker (Aron Julius), who covered for her when she unknowingly administered an overdose to a child while under the influence of drugs.
The duo’s relationship came to an end a number of weeks ago, with Stevie subsequently sharing a moment with old uni pal Flynn.
Dylan Keogh (William Beck) reported Stevie and Matty’s fling to Flynn earlier this month, which led to further conflict between the trio and, during tonight’s episode of the medical series, he relapsed.
In typical Casualty fashion, the drama has been left on a series of cliffhangers and here’s everything we’ve no doubt got to look forward to when the show returns to screens.
Will Colonel Bard pay for his crimes?
Flynn was chilled to the core when he crossed paths with Bard earlier this year, having seen firsthand what the soldier is capable of. Holby’s Clinical Lead detailed in a private conversation with Stevie about how he lost a friend named Adam, who he started basically training with in the army when he was just 17.
Adam was treated horrendously by Bard and subsequently took his own life and thus, with soldier Rory having been treated the same way by the colonel, Flynn is determined to ensure history didn’t repeat.

Rory ended up in the ED on numerous occasions and it was touch and go earlier this month when the young lad flatlined after a serious accident but, against all odds, Flynn was able to save his life.
After being discharged, Rory planned to report Bard but tragedy struck when his fellow soldier and best friend Kev died. Rory broke down in Flynn’s arms and, with the army private seemingly not reporting Bard, Flynn opted to do so himself at the end of this week’s episode.
The question is: will Bard finally pay for what he’s done?
Much like Flynn suspected, the so-called leader has been abusing and hazing his men for quite some time. Will he finally be held to account? One thing’s for sure: He’s not going to be too happy about Flynn taking action!
A new chapter for Stevie?
Despite things looking bleak for her career at one stage, Stevie’s future at Holby ED remains intact.
Her career was called into question after Dylan reported her and Matty’s secret relationship with Flynn, which led to conflict aplenty.
But against all odds, the senior consultant is staying put!
However, as of this week she is on reduced activities and unable to work out of resus, with Flynn having been tasked with keeping an eye on her in the interim. Will she be able to get back to her former glory and prove once again why she is such a titan of the ED?
Dylan and Matty aftermath
Dylan relationship with Matty is worse than ever after he reported Stevie to Flynn. Matty, as fans know, was not only in a secret relationship with Stevie but he also kept shtum when she accidentally overdosed a patient.
Dylan went straight to Flynn when Matty confided in him, which shattered the bond that the father and son duo had slowly been building.
The investigation into Stevie’s conduct concluded this week and although it was mostly a favourable outcome for all involved, Matty refused to forgive Dylan for going behind his back and almost ending Stevie’s career.
Dylan was tasked with delivering a keynote speech at a dinner during the evening and after receiving a round of applause from the attendees, he grabbed a glass of champagne and took a drink, unaware that Matty – after some encouragement from Stevie – arrived at the event and witnessed the whole thing.
Will recovering alcoholic Dylan get the help he needs? And has his relapse reduced the chances of he and Matty making things right in the future?
Stevie and Flynn future?
A heart-to-heart between Stevie and Flynn a number of weeks ago left viewers in shock as sparks very clearly emerged for the duo.
Flynn said goodnight to Steve after a night out, leaving her at the bar, but he soon smiled to himself and raced back in the rain, hoping to catch up with his confidante. Stevie, meanwhile, waited outside the bar, having clearly had the same idea. However, after a moment she hailed down a cab and left, unaware that Flynn had just arrived.
Will the two mates decide to act on their unexpected electricity? Or will the recent complaint saga have ended any potential romantic stories for the pair?
Wyvern Hill Estate
The Wyvern Hill saga has taken centre stage during much of the Lethal Legacy boxset.
As fans know, the ED has been overrun with patients suffering from respiratory illnesses – as well as a number of premature births – and all the cases in question have in some way, shape or form been linked to nearby development Wyvern Hill, which is built on top of a toxic dump.
Despite a number of explosions on estate, caused by chemical barrels below the surface, property developer Emilia Gold (Bethzienna Williams) has proceeded with the development, going against Jodie Whyte’s (Anna Chell) recommendation that the site re-opening be delayed due to it being contaminated and unsafe.
Jodie has since made it her mission to ‘nail’ those responsible, desperate to find the proof she needs to prove her theories – and she successfully did so last week, locating documents signed by a nurse called Diane, who treated a number of patients who all had ties to Wyvern.
Jodie believes this to be the smoking gun she needed. Will she be able to get justice for all those impacted by the property developers?
Romance for Siobhan and Jan?
An unexpected moment shared between Jan Jennings (Di Botcher) and Siobhan McKenzie (Melanie Hill) took fans by surprise earlier this month, leaving them convinced that something romantic would occur.
In the week since, it’s clear that paramedic Jan has feelings for Siobhan, though it’s not yet known if such feelings are reciprocated.
With Siobhan having received bad news this week – that rapist Chris Banfield is set to be released – Jan was on hand to offer support, suggesting that she stay on her couch for the night.
It’s clear the two characters care a great deal for each other, but whether that will turn into romance remains to be seen.
Will Jacob’s words of support help Teddy?
Teddy (Milo Clarke) has been questioning if he’s good enough to be a paramedic and feels as though he keeps getting things wrong.
After weeks of keeping his struggles to himself, he opened up Jacob during the latest offering of the BBC One medical drama.
The revelation left Jacob (Charles Venn) concerned as he reassured his colleague and friend just how good he is at his job, which prompted Teddy to call his father.
Will Jacob’s words give Teddy the confidence he needs to move forward?
Casualty returns Saturday July 11 on BBC One or stream from 6am on BBC iPlayer.
