Ask Allison: My husband drinks heavily, like his father did and now my son is following suit. I can’t bear it anymore

Question: My husband’s father was a lovely man but a functioning alcoholic. For almost 25 years I have also witnessed my husband drinking heavily. He is not violent or verbally abusive, nor does it impact me financially.
