Armie Hammer opened up about his fortune in his first major interview since his 2021 scandal, dismissing claims about inheriting his father’s massive fortune. The actor is currently trying to return to the industry, and also spoke about readjusting to life in California after his time away due to the allegations.

Armie Hammer on whether he inherited any of his father’s fortune

Armie Hammer, the grandson of oil businessman Armand Hammer, said that he did not inherit a substantial fortune following the death of his father, Michael Hammer, in 2022. The actor also discussed his ongoing efforts to rebuild his career following the controversy that affected his professional life.

In 2021, multiple women made allegations against the 39-year-old actor, including claims of psychological and sexual abuse. One woman said she had a four-year relationship with Hammer while he was married to Elizabeth Chambers. She also accused him of rape.

Hammer denied the allegations. No criminal charges were filed against him. However, he said that his career was significantly affected following the allegations. His representatives stopped working with him. He said he spent time staying with friends before eventually moving into a rent-controlled apartment in Los Angeles.

“It’s just one of those things that’s so complicated, you have to be a tax attorney to fully understand it,” he explained to The Hollywood Reporter. “But the end result was not I’m set for the rest of my life, or even for the next couple of years. It hasn’t been that.”

Hammer initially relocated to the Cayman Islands, where he had access to property through his family.

Despite describing a complicated relationship with his father, Hammer said he helped care for him during his illness. “I would bathe him and cook food for him and feed him and change his diapers and do all that stuff,” he said. “We got to have all those conversations. We got to have an amends with each other.” He further went on to add, “We got to really move through it. And then I got to be there holding his hand when he died. Which is like a gift.”

Hammer is currently working on three low-budget films as he attempts to return to acting. However, he said adjusting to life back in Los Angeles has been challenging. “I was back in a city that felt like it used to be my city, but it had moved on without me,” he added.

The actor also reflected on his situation. “I made these problems for myself,” he said. He continued, “This didn’t happen to me by a fluke accident. I didn’t do what people are saying I did. But I brought very dangerous and unsafe people into my life, and I pissed off people in my life, and here we are.”
