Ariana Grande fans are convinced that she’s been cast in ‘A Minecraft Movie’ sequel

Ariana Grande fans are convinced the pop star is set to star in A Minecraft Movie sequel after she followed Jack Black on Instagram.

Ariana Grande is set to kick off her ‘Eternal Sunshine’ world tour in June before a string of UK shows in August. After that, she’s heading to London’s West End to star in Sunday In The Park With George opposite Jonathan Bailey, which will open summer 2027.

However some fans believe that before all that, she’ll be joining the cast of A Minecraft Movie sequel. Earlier this week, fans noticed that Grande had started following Jack Black on Instagram. “She normally follows people she works with before things are announced,” explained one X user. “So she’s in the Minecraft sequel,” added another fan.

Earlier this week, Black was confirmed to be returning for the Minecraft Movie sequel, alongside Danielle Brooks (Dawn), Matt Berry (Villager) and Jennifer Coolidge (Marlene). According to Jason Momoa, who will return as Garrett ‘The Garbage Man’ Garrison, filming for the sequel is due to start next month and the script is “even better” than the original.

Other fans are speculating that Grande could voice Daisy in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie or appear in Kung Fu Panda 5.

Grande is set to star in Focker-In-Law, which is released this November, and will appear in the 13th season of American Horror Story. She will also voice a character in the 2028 animated adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ Oh, The Places You’ll Go!.

Back in 2024, Grande revealed she had a ten-year-plan to focus on acting following roles in Wicked and Wicked: For Good. “I love acting. I love musical theater. I love comedy, and it heals me to find roles to use these parts of myself,” she explained. She later reassured fans that she wasn’t going to quit music. “Very silly of you all to assume that just because I have my hands full with many things that I plan to abandon singing and music,” she wrote on Instagram.

Earlier this week, Kirsten Dunst was confirmed to be playing Alex in The Minecraft Movie sequel after joking about wanting to do projects that paid “piles of cash”.

In other news, Life Is Strange writer and director Jonathan Zimmerman has spoken about the “miracle” of getting IDLES’ collab with LCD Soundsystem on the upcoming Reunion soundtrack.
