April is set to bring new developments for the Stranger Things franchise across different formats. Upcoming releases tied to the series will expand its universe while also featuring one of its cast members in a separate project.

Stranger Things returns with another show in April

Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 is an upcoming animated science fiction television series and a spin-off of Netflix’s Stranger Things. Netflix will premiere the series on April 23, 2026, and release the first two episodes in select theaters earlier on April 18.

The story unfolds in Hawkins during the winter of 1985. It follows the original group as they confront new supernatural threats. The narrative focuses on the group facing emerging dangers while investigating a paranormal mystery affecting their town.

Eric Robles developed the show. Matt and Ross Duffer, Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, and others serve as executive producers. The series introduces a new voice cast portraying animated versions of established characters. It also adds a new character, Nikki Baxter.

The show takes place between the second and third seasons of the original series. It expands the franchise’s mythology with new creatures from the Upside Down. Early descriptions highlight unusual threats and environments connected to the alternate dimension.

Gaten Matarazzo’s new movie also opens in April

Pizza Movie is a 2026 American comedy film starring Gaten Matarazzo. It will release on Hulu on April 3, 2026. The film premiered earlier at SXSW on March 13, 2026.

Brian McElhaney and Nick Kocher wrote and directed the film. It follows two college roommates who take a drug that triggers a hallucinogenic experience. To counter its effects, they try to obtain pizza. This leads to a chaotic attempt to secure a drone delivery.

The cast includes Sean Giambrone, Lulu Wilson, Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Marcus Scribner, and Daniel Radcliffe in a voice role. American High produced the film, which runs for 92 minutes.

Hulu secured the distribution rights in June 2025, with production commencing later that same month.
