Amber Davies Calls Out 'Selfish' Audience Member For Filming Legally Blonde Performance

Amber Davies had some things to get off her chest following her latest performance in Legally Blonde.

The Strictly Come Dancing finalist is currently starring as Elle Woods in a touring production of the stage musical, which arrived in Dublin’s Bord Gáis Theatre last week.

However, during the interval, Amber took to Instagram to call out an audience member in the front row who had been filming the show on her phone – with the Love Island winner claiming she’d requested this audience member be asked to leave.

“This is your daily reminder not to film at the theatre!” she told her followers. “Tonight, at the Bord Gáis, we’ve got a beautiful audience, but there’s just one woman in the front row, filming the entirety of act one.

“It’s had us all distracted. It’s ruined the morale of our wonderful eighth show [of the week] on a Saturday night from selfish actions.”

She continued: “Hopefully, she’s not back for act two. I’ve asked can she go so we can just enjoy ourselves.”

Amber added that there’d been “a couple of people filming” over the course of the week, noting that she’s “the type of person” who will find out where the person is in the auditorium so she can have them removed by security.

“Guys… don’t film,” she concluded. “Let’s just enjoy the two and a half hours together! We don’t need to film everything.”

Amber is far from the only prolific theatre performer to speak out on the issue of phone use in recent history.

Just last month, Rosamund Pike took an opportunity at curtain call of her show Inter Alia to reprimand someone for using their phone in the auditorium, while Cynthia Erivo went as far as pausing a performance of Dracula due to someone in the audience filming her.

Broadway legend Patti LuPone has been vocal on this issue for years, infamously once swiping an audience member’s phone after seeing them on it during a performance in 2015.

Similarly, British performer Gemma Arterton once claimed during an interview on The Graham Norton Show that she had done the same thing when she spotted a patron filming her while she was performing in the West End musical adaptation of Made In Dagenham.
