Adam Sandler’s Latest Comedy Is Dominating on Streaming Charts

Adam Sandler‘s latest Netflix comedy is already making waves on streaming charts just days after its release. The Happy Madison production, a company founded by Sandler, follows two college freshmen whose promising friendship takes a dramatically unexpected turn behind closed dorm doors.

Roommates, produced by Adam Sandler, debuted at number one on Netflix’s Top 10 movies chart in the United States, according to FlixPatrol. The black comedy film landed on the streaming platform on April 17, 2026. Chandler Levack directed the project from a screenplay by Jimmy Fowlie and Ceara O’Sullivan.

The film stars Sadie Sandler and Chloe East as two college freshmen navigating dorm life together. Happy Madison Productions and Range Media Partners produced the project. Since its release, Roommates has held the top spot for five consecutive days on Netflix’s U.S. movies chart.

Sadie Sandler plays Devon, an introverted college freshman. Meanwhile, Chloe East portrays Celeste, Devon’s confident and self-assured roommate. The supporting cast also includes Sarah Sherman, Natasha Lyonne, Nick Kroll, Storm Reid, and Steve Buscemi.

Adam Sandler initially approached Levack to direct the film after watching her directorial debut, I Like Movies. Principal photography started in June last year in New Jersey alongside the Happy Madison production Don’t Say Good Luck.

The film follows Devon and Celeste’s college friendship as it gradually deteriorates into a bitter rivalry. Megan Thee Stallion, Carol Kane, Janeane Garofalo, Bailee Madison, and Billy Bryk round out the ensemble cast.

On Rotten Tomatoes, 67% of 18 critics’ reviews currently register as positive for the film. However, the audience Popcornmeter sits notably lower at 45% based on over 100 ratings. Metacritic assigned Roommates a score of 57 out of 100 based on five critics, with a user score of 2.8.

The movie is currently streaming on Netflix.
