Abbott Elementary did the unthinkable in Season 5 when it decided to send everyone's favorite teacher couple to splitsville. In Episode 19, Janine (Quinta Brunson) and Gregory (Tyler James Williams), after moving in together and seeming to mesh well in the same space beyond the classroom, got into a fight while planning their first trip together that ultimately spelled their doom. What started as a simple argument over whether to compromise and save money with a car trip or take a direct flight to the Outer Banks spills over into a blow-up that has them questioning how well they can work together if their spending habits are so misaligned that they can't even plan a vacation together. It doesn't last, and the pair are right back together by the end of the season, but it was still an important milestone in their relationship that may have laid the groundwork for something more.
