Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals took a worrying turn for the Indiana Pacers as Aaron Nesmith exited with an ankle injury during the third quarter. With 5:58 left and the Pacers leading 72-57, Nesmith rolled his right ankle after landing awkwardly on Jalen Brunson’s foot during a baseline drive. He immediately collapsed in pain and had to be helped off the floor by teammates.

Allie LaForce provided an update from the sideline, confirming with the team that Nesmith suffered a right ankle sprain and is officially questionable to return. “It’s very clear in that video—you see him land awkwardly on it. He was clearly in pain,” she said. LaForce also noted the troubling history behind this injury: Nesmith previously sprained the same ankle on November 1, 2024, when he landed on Pelicans coach Willie Green’s foot. That injury kept him sidelined for 35 games.

The Pacers crowd chanted “Nesmith! Nesmith!” as he limped to the locker room, aware of how important he has been both offensively and as the primary defender on Jalen Brunson throughout the series.

While the Pacers maintain a strong lead in Game 3, losing Nesmith for any extended time could shake their defensive setup and rotation moving forward.

Update: He has emerged from the tunnels
