Winter may be coming, but summer is when production heats up for HBO’s beloved Game of Thrones prequel. With cameras rolling and a growing cast of Westerosi players, Season 2 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has just locked in a crucial production timeline.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 to wrap filming in June

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 is scheduled to wrap filming in June 2026, keeping it on track for a possible 2027 premiere, as per Deadline. That timeline gives post-production a comfortable window to bring the drought-stricken Reach to life.

Dexter Sol Ansell, who plays the young squire Egg opposite Peter Claffey’s Ser Duncan the Tall, is currently shooting his scenes.

Further, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has expanded its roster with three more additions for Season 2. Lucy Boynton has been tapped to play Lady Rohanne of Coldmoat, aka the Red Widow. Babou Ceesay joins as Ser Bennis of the Brown Shield, while Peter Mullan takes on the role of Ser Eustace Osgrey of Standfast in the Reach.

The new season adapts George R.R. Martin’s second novella, The Sworn Sword, which finds the pair entangled in a regional dispute during a summer drought in Westeros. Showrunner Ira Parker earlier provided more insight into the upcoming season’s scope and challenges. In January, he confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter, “It’ll still be six episodes. I think the scope will be the same, maybe even smaller. The budget has stayed the same, but everything is more expensive due to inflation.”

However, he added, “I’m having a lot of fun with season two. It’s going to be a different season, and, I hope, for the better.” With the first season being such a hit, the anticipation for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 is already high.
