Executing any thriller effectively is essentially a magic trick, but it’s especially difficult to pull off a thriller on television, because it has to stretch the rubber band of suspense much further than a movie or even a novel. You have to keep the audience on the edge of their seat for an hour a week, sometimes for multiple years, without ever deflating that tension.
