While many frightening films have been made out of the Emperor of Evil’s novels and short stories, a haunting handful of his chilling books are far scarier than any moving picture could ever insidiously hope to be. Indeed, Stephen King may be the master of the macabre, in terms of inspiring horror movies, but his writing alone conjures scarier mental images than any 2-dimensional feature is capable of.
