Author J. R. R. Tolkien wrote entire lexicons of information about his made-up universe known colloquially as Middle-earth, detailing numerous events, histories, and characters that take place over tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of years. The most famous of these stories is Tolkien's novel trilogy The Lord of the Rings, which was adapted into some of the greatest films of all time.
