37 Years Later, Ethan Hawke’s Defining Coming-of-Age Classic Surges Onto a New Streamer

The Oscars have come and gone, and while Ethan Hawke didn't win anything for his turn as famed lyricist Lorenz Hart in Blue Moon, he still had a lot to celebrate in 2025. His latest turn with Richard Linklater at least got him his fifth nomination and first as a lead actor, even if it was ultimately Michael B. Jordan who took home the gold. It was also just one of three roles he tackled on the big screen in 2025, along with the Steve Zahn-led dramedy She Dances and his revival from the dead as the twisted Grabber in the horror sequel Black Phone 2. Becoming this level of household name took time, though it was all kick-started by one singular standout coming-of-age role.
