HBO has welcomed three award-winning composers to its highly anticipated Harry Potter TV show, which is currently in production at Leavesden Studios in the UK. The newest live-action adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s popular fantasy novel series is scheduled to debut sometime in 2027.

Who is joining the Harry Potter HBO TV show?

HBO has officially tapped Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight trilogy, Dune) to compose the new score for the Harry Potter TV show. In addition, composers Kara Talve and Anže Rozman of the Emmy-winning team of Bleeding Fingers have also joined the project. The acclaimed composing team is a collective of exceptional, sonically diverse composers who create superlative original film, television, and multimedia scores that was co-founded by Zimmer, Russell Emanuel, and Steven Kofsky.

“The musical legacy of Harry Potter is a touch point for composers everywhere, and we are humbled to join such a remarkable team on a project of this magnitude,” Zimmer said in a statement. “The responsibility is something that I, Kara Talve, Anže Rozman, do not take lightly. Magic is all around us, often just beyond reach, but as in the world of Harry Potter, you simply must look for it. With this score, we hope to bring audiences that little bit closer to it whilst honoring what has come before.”

The Harry Potter TV show will star newcomers Dominic McLaughlin as the titular character, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger. Joining them are John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, and Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Gracie Cochrane as Ginny Weasley, Tristan Harland as Fred Weasley, Gabriel Harland as George Weasley, and more.

The HBO adaptation is written and executive produced by showrunner Francesca Gardiner (Killing Eve, Succession), with Mark Mylod serving as its director. It will be a faithful adaptation of the beloved Harry Potter book series, featuring an exciting and talented cast to lead a new generation of fandom. Executive producers are Mylod, Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts, and long-time Harry Potter franchise producer David Heyman. It is a production by HBO in association with Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros. Television.
