2 Broke Girls’ Kat Dennings & Beth Behrs Are Getting Back Together on a Different Show

The iconic duo from 2 Broke Girls is reuniting on screen. Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs will share scenes again during the upcoming third season of ABC’s show. Behrs joins the sitcom as a guest star in an episode that is deemed to play on her natural comedic chemistry with Dennings. The role is their first major television collaboration since their hit CBS comedy ended in 2017.

Shifting Gears Season 3 to reunite 2 Broke Girls’ Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs

Beth Behrs will star as Dr. Johnson, a beautiful emergency room doctor who treats Riley for a back injury. Riley, of course, is played by Kat Dennings. The casting puts both actors back under the guidance of showrunner Michelle Nader, who previously worked as an executive producer on 2 Broke Girls (via Variety).

The reunion adds another nostalgic layer to a show that has already brought back familiar faces. In Season 2, Tim Allen welcomed his former Home Improvement costars Patricia Richardson, Richard Karn, and Debbe Dunning for a support group storyline.

Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs featured on 2 Broke Girls for six seasons. Their characters, Max Black and Caroline Channing, became fan favorites for their relatable banter and unlikely friendship.

After that series ended, Behrs spent eight seasons playing Gemma on the CBS sitcom The Neighborhood. She also voiced characters in Monsters University and appeared in Hello, My Name is Doris. She also launched the podcast Harmonics. Now, Behrs’s guest spot on Shifting Gears gives longtime fans the reunion they have wanted.

Moreover, Shifting Gears centers on Matt, a stubborn widower who owns a classic car restoration shop. His life gets complicated when his estranged daughter Riley and her kids move into his house. The series also features Seann William Scott, Daryl Chill Mitchell, Maxwell Simkins, and Barrett Margolis. ABC renewed the comedy for a third season in April. Season 3 is scheduled to air in 2027.
