The success of a film is not contingent on critical reception. It is not uncommon for a movie to be condemned by professional reviewers and go on to enjoy widespread popularity. Audiences are more willing to overlook narrative snags and embrace a film for what it offers. Further, reviewers and audiences generally judge films on entirely different parameters.
