Universal love is difficult in science fiction because the genre invites arguments almost by design. People split over tone, pacing, ideas, effects, philosophy, sentiment, worldbuilding, endings, seriousness, accessibility, all of it. One person wants awe. One wants prediction. One wants terror. Another wants human feeling strong enough to survive the machinery around it. It’s weird, and understandably so.
