You can show almost anything in a movie nowadays, but not everything. Maybe everything can be touched upon, discussed, or implied (see some of the places 1998’s Happiness goes to, for instance, or maybe don’t see where it goes to if you want to sleep well tonight), but the visual nature of that medium means certain things are out of bounds, especially if the movie’s to get a proper rating and something approaching a wide release.
