HBO was the progenitor of the Golden Age of Television. Before AMC aired Breaking Bad and Mad Men, Showtime aired Dexter and Nurse Jackie, and Netflix aired House of Cards and Mindhunter, HBO was the bona fide home of “Peak TV.” It was the first network to introduce morally gray antiheroes, serialized storytelling, and cinematic visuals to the small screen.
